Blanton Museum of Art Finally housed in an architectural space worthy of its collections, the Blanton welcomes and engages all visitors with its inspiring collection of more than 17,000 works, in addition to ground-breaking exhibitions by new and established artists, plus a rich variety of hands-on public programs. These public programs range from artist talks, art history classes, yoga in the galleries, live music, and late night art parties. The museum also features public tours-and school groups are welcome! Current exhibitions include A Summer of Masterworks featuring A Century of Grace: 19th-Century Masterworks from the Dahesh Museum of Art, New York (through August 5) and Master Drawings from the Yale University Art Gallery (through August 12); America/Americas, a pioneering installation that integrates for the first time the Blanton's rich collections of Latin American and American art; European Paintings from the Permanent Collection, which features approximately 180 Renaissance and Baroque paintings. WorkSpace series features commissioned projects by contemporary artists from around the world. Highlights of the Blanton's public programs include B scene, a theme-inspired art party featuring live music, held the first Friday of every month from 6-11 p.m. For those seeking escape from everyday pressures, the Blanton presents Art Fix, a short program intended to soothe or invigorate with activities ranging from yoga to feng shui. This September, the Blanton will present a range of exhibitions for visitors: the contemporary shows Mike's World: Michael Smith & Joshua White (and other collaborators), on view September 11 - December 30, and Transactions, on view September 11 - November 18; and a major exhibition of the work of the beloved Renaissance master Albrecht Durer, Albrecht Dürer: Prints from the Foundation of Lower Saxony and the Konrad Liebmann Foundation, Germany, on view September 8-November 25. go to Blanton Museum home page The Blanton Museum of Art Julia Matthews Wilkinson Center for Prints and Drawings and HEB Study
